EAST GWILLIMBURY, Ont. — Ontario's police watchdog says it has interviewed witnesses to a weekend incident in East Gwillimbury, Ont., that left two people dead.
The incident took place on Saturday, when York Regional Police said they investigated a report of a stabbing.
Authorities have said a 38-year-old woman was found dead and a 37-year-old male suspect was shot dead by police.
Police have said three people -- a two-year-old boy, a four-year-old boy and a 35-year-old woman -- were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
The Special Investigations Unit, which is probing what happened, says it won't be naming the man who died, at the request of family.
The agency says it has interviewed a witness officer and three civilians but has not yet interviewed two officers who are the subject of the investigation.
The SIU also says it has secured a knife found at the scene, as well as firearms from the two subject officers.
