TORONTO — Ontario's Special Investigations Unit is investigating the death of a 32-year-old man in a Toronto apartment fire.
Toronto police were dispatched to an apartment building Friday evening for an assault call.
The SIU says that as they forced open the door to the 12th floor unit, they saw flames and tried to communicate with the man.
Toronto firefighters who arrived on scene located the man and brought him out of the apartment that was engulfed in flames.
He was pronounced dead.
Two SIU investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
