Ontario man pleads guilty to killing four family members, lawyer says

MARKHAM, Ont. — A man has pleaded guilty to killing four of his family members in Markham, Ont., last year.

Menhaz Zaman's lawyer says he pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree murder and one of second-degree murder on Thursday.

Police found the bodies of 70-year-old Firoza Begum, 59-year-old Moniruz Zaman, 50-year-old Momtaz Begum, and 21-year-old Malesa Zaman in their home in late July 2019.

Menhaz Zaman, who is also from Markham, was arrested at the scene.

The following day, he was charged with four counts of first-degree murder.

Zaman's lawyer says he's to be sentenced next month.
