Man found dead after Toronto apartment fire was victim of homicide, police say

Toronto police say a 58-year-old man found dead inside a Toronto apartment where a fire broke out over the weekend was the victim of a homicide.

Officers were called to the east-end apartment Saturday evening for reports of a fire, and found the body of Jomo Hendricks inside.

Police have not released the cause of death and have no suspects in custody.

They say the cause of the fire is also under investigation.

Anyone who had contact with Hendricks in the days before his death is being asked to come forward.

It's the city's 29th homicide of the year.
