COVID-19 outbreak at Pembroke, Ont., dental office linked to out-of-zone travel

PEMBROKE, Ont. — Health authorities say a COVID-19 outbreak at a dental office in Pembroke, Ont., began after a visit by a person from a locked-down region.

Renfrew County and District Health Unit says three staff at the dental office have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Dr. Robert Cushman, acting medical officer of health, says the outbreak is related to visitor from a grey locked-down area.

Renfrew County falls under the "Prevent/Green" level on Ontario's reopening framework.

Public health says it urged everyone in close contact with the positive cases to self-isolate immediately and arrange for testing. 

Patients considered low risk are being contacted by the dental office with instructions to self-monitor.
