24-year-old man dies after fall from moving pickup truck in Lanaudiere

MONTREAL — Quebec authorities say a young man died after falling from the back of a pickup truck in the Lanaudiere region early Saturday morning.

Provincial police say the 24-year-old fell from the moving vehicle at around 3:30 a.m. in the municipality of Saint-Zenon, about a two hours' drive north of Montreal.

The victim was unconscious when reached on Lac Saint Stanislas Road by emergency responders, who took him to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say four people were in the vehicle, including two in the box of the pickup.

Investigators have ruled alcohol or drugs as a factor and say the truck did not crash or leave the road.

The victim's identity has not been released.
