1 dead, 3 seriously injured after single-vehicle crash east of Marathon, Ont.

MARATHON, Ont. — Police say a 35-year-old woman is dead and three people are seriously injured after a single-vehicle crash in northern Ontario.

Ontario Provincial Police say the incident happened 70 kilometres east of Marathon, Ont., at around 1 a.m. on Wednesday.

They say a car lost control after hitting the shoulder and entered a ditch before flipping onto its roof.

Police say all the occupants of the vehicle had to be extracted by emergency responders.

A passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver and two other passengers were rushed to hospital.

Investigators say they're not identifying the deceased until next of kin is notified.
