Peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on Friday, October 5, 2018 just one month before his 83rd birthday.  Cherished husband of the love of his life, Ada (Cuglietta) for 54 years.  Adored and respected father of Ron and Rosanne, Dan, Robbie and Heidi.  Proud Nono and mentor to his grandchildren Anastasia, Xavier, Gabriella and Gracee.  Nothing brought more joy to Eugenio than his grandchildren.  He taught them by example about perseverance, hard work and the importance of family.  The third born of nine children, Eugene was the Patriarch of the Zagordo family in Canada.  Predeceased by his siblings Michaele (Nina), Emma (Angelo) and Ada.  Leaving behind to mourn this great loss are Rosa (Salvatore) and Amelia (Geniale), of both Italy, Tony (Rosina), Settimio (Ida), and Ida (Alfredo), all of Sault Ste Marie.  He was a loved Zio of many.  Eugenio was a gentle and humble man who touched many lives through his generosity.  Eugenio was born in Aiello Calabro, Italy.  At 18 he moved to Venezuela, where he lived for 10 years before moving to Canada to be with his brothers.  It was here that he met his bride, Ada.  He loved spending time in his garden and according to him, he had the best garden in the city.  He had many friends, but if you were lucky enough to be called his ‘Chum’ you held a special place in his heart.  He was truly loved by all who knew him.  A special thank you to his siblings Tony, Settimio and Ida for not leaving his side during his final days.  Friends may visit the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E, 705-759-2522) on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm.  A funeral mass to follow from St. Gerard Majella (211 Pentagon Blvd) at 1 pm with Rev. Alex Saurianthadathil officiating.  Always a sports fan, to honour Eugenio, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Mary’s College Football Field Fund.
