Goldie Jean Whitehead passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 86. She is joyfully reunited with her beloved husband of 60 years, Morris (d.2016). Cherished mother of Debbie, Don (Penny), James (Beth) and Lori MacFarlane (James). She will be sadly missed and treasured by 10 grandchildren, Brandon (Abbie), Amanda Lock (Joel), Shanna McBay (Brian), Ryan, Sarah Pascuzzi (Stephen), Shaun (Samantha), Christopher (Laken), Tyson MacFarlane (Rochelle), Denver MacFarlane (Jamie Lynn), Ben MacFarlane (Talia) as well as 26 great grandchildren. Dear daughter of the late Mervyn and Jean Whitfield and sister of John, Elwood, Charles, Ruby, late Robert, Diamond and Lawrence. Goldie will be deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends.
Goldie was a committed and faithful woman who gave of herself to others. She was a loyal member of the Church of Christ and was selflessly devoted to her family, especially her eldest daughter Debbie. Her greatest enjoyment was watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow and change throughout the years. We will forever miss Skyping on Sundays, holiday dinners and her many hugs and kisses.
The family wishes to thank Penny for her endless devotion which allowed Mom to stay in her home during her last few weeks as well as nurse Amy for her support. We also want to thank Brooke, Marilyn and Norm at Beggs Funeral Home for their care and service.
If desired, the family appreciates donations in memory of Goldie to the Algoma Manor or to the Thessalon Church of Christ.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, Sept. 26, between noon and 1:30 p.m. at the Thessalon Church of Christ, 8 Albert Street. Funeral service will begin at 2:00pm and will be followed by interment at Maple Ridge Cemetery. Chris Wright officiating. Luncheon in the church basement following services.
