WAUGH, Marie (Verna)

Peacefully passed away at Extendicare Mapleview Nursing Home on Friday, July 7, 2017 surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late John. Loving mother of Connie Waugh (Sergio Fabbro) and Rhondalee Eder (Peter Eder). Special grandma of Grace-Marie, Matthew and Joseph and James Eder. Marie will be missed by her four remaining sisters in Alberta, brother-in-law Don Waugh in Wiarton, Ontario and also her many nieces and nephews. Marie started out as one of ten girls, a farmer’s daughter at a time when money was scarce and her chores would only be done by a man at this time. From there she left home with a grade 9 education and became an accountant for a lumber camp in northern Alberta. She could dance all night at the Friday night dances – her dance card was always filled. She went on to meet the love of her life in Slave Lake, Alberta. They had their adventures and challenges with dad being dispatched around Canada and her caring for three children. Marie never backed away from a challenge or a chance to help a neighbour and made friends easily. As people always quote she would give you the “shirt off her back”. Our house was always the house to be at. Everyone felt her love. A special thank you to Mapleview Goulais Bay nursing staff for their love and care, especially Susan and Jessie, as well as Rev. Nancy Ferguson for her service and support. A private family service has taken place and cremation will take place at a later date.
