Died peacefully and quickly at home in the company of Annemarie, his wife of 46 years. Winfried leaves a legacy of hard work, fine craftsmanship and storytelling. The buildings and furniture he crafted will remain as a monument to him; those who knew him will remember his love of presiding over a table of friends and family with his anecdotes of past adventures. He is survived by his spouse, Annemarie his children Markus Wandel (Blanca Yang) with grandson Max Wandel in Ottawa; Matthias Wandel; Johanna Wandel (Kevin Hill) in Kitchener and Marlene Wandel (Olivier Doucet) with grandsons Sebastien and Felix Doucet in Thunder Bay. Born into a family of 11 in Germany, Winfried goes to join the two sisters who have gone before him, and leaves eight brothers and sisters, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and brothers- and sisters-in-law to remember him there. Funeral service will be held Monday, October 15 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, Thessalon. Interment will take place at Cloudslee Cemetery on Tuesday, October 16, 2012.
