It is with a heavy heart that we must annouce the passing of Elizabeth Jean Walker (Betty), who perished on the morning of April 14, 2020 at the age of 88. Betty was strong, confident and loyaly invested in family. Betty was Canada's first female landfill manager. She was resourceful, independent and an exploratory gardener.

Her dogs brought her great joy, especially her beloved Jake. She loved to sit under the summer sun and spend time at Island Lake. Betty will forever be remembered as honest, generous and as an engaging conversationalist.

Betty was one of seven children born into the Carlson Family. She treasured her time with her brother John and his wife Doreen, and cherished her lifelong friends Normande Spadoni and Phylis Landry.

Betty is survivied by her only daughter Connie Hanchuck (Bill) and her grandchildren, Matthew (Kathy), Sara Mendoza (David) and Tyler (Melissa).

A celebration of Betty's life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions payable by cheque to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
