April 25, 1937 - Feb 8, 2025- Passed away at the Sault Area Hospital on Saturday, February 8,2025 with his wife Eldonna by his side. Cherished husband of Eldonna. Dear father of Kevin (Janice)  and Rob. Grandfather of Chelsey (Joe), Lyndsay (Luke), Rebecca, Connor, Aubrey, Darwin, Aaryana, Roxanna  and Great grandfather of  Ryder and Hunter. Loved brother of Oliver.

Murray grew up in Biggar , Saskatchewan and when he finished highschool he joined the Armed Forces where he learned his trade as an electronics engineer in the 5 years he was a soldier.  From the Armed Services he moved on to employment with CAE Industries, building and maintaining flight simulators used by military and commercial pilots in training

Subsequently he was chosen to join a team of radar experts to work with the US Airforce to coordinate the functions of North America’s defence systems, namely the DEW line, the Mid Canada Line and the Pine Tree Line. That was two years of travelling to every radar site and working on the systems.

Murray moved his family from Montreal to Sault Ste. Marie where he took up his career with Algoma Steel in 1972 and there he worked for 26 years. In 1998 Murray retired from the steel plant to take over his father’s farm when his dad passed on.  After just a few years  of farming he got an opportunity to sell and then became fully retired. He moved away from the farm in McGee, Saskatchewan to Saskatoon where he was an avid golfer, occasional curler, fisherman and traveller.

Finally he moved to Edmonton to be closer to family, but after a few years he decided it was time to return to the Sault.  Only a few short months after he got back to the Sault, his health took a serious downturn. He lived at his son Rob’s place in Laird until finally he was admitted to hospital.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of life will be held in the spring. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758).

We would like to thank the wonderful nurses and doctors at SAH in 3A and 3C who took such good care of our Dad for the month he was in their care. We will never forget your care and compassion toward Dad and all the family who attended at his bedside.

May he finally rest in peace.

RIP Dad,  we miss you xoxo
