VARANO, Teresa 2bio
It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Teresa on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice surrounded by love and family. She was the loving wife and best friend to Rocky for 54 years. She will be sorely missed by her children Maria Christina, Annalisa (Brent) and Patrick Anthony. Teresa was a very proud and adoring grandmother to Sofia Maria-Teresa and Scarlett. She was the daughter of Mafalda and the late Francesco Moraca. Loving daughter-in-law of the late Maria and Pasquale Varano. She will be sorely missed by her siblings Savina (Don Gulley), Aldo Moraca (Andrea), Albina (Gino Biasucci), Josie Moraca, Sara (Brian Parkinson) and Sergio Moraca (Sherry). Teresa was the loving and caring auntie to Lauri Annecca (Claudio), Donny Gulley (Chrissy), Michael Moraca (Dana), Alexandra Michel (Tyler), Graham Moraca (Jillian), Carmine Biasucci (Delia), Franco Biasucci (Amanda), Stevie Luzzi, Christopher Parkinson, Kate Moraca (Kyle) and Ashley Moraca. She will be missed by all of her great nieces, nephews and extended family. She will also be missed by all of the Varano family in Italy and Toronto including  her nephew Domenic Varano (Lisa) of Sault Ste. Marie, her sister-in-law, Eva (late Vito), loving nephews Lino (Giovanna) and Alvaro (Graziella) and their families, her niece Antonietta Ceniti and her God-daughter, Rosella and siblings. Teresa was born on January 20th, 1946 in San Mango D’Aquino, Calabria, Italy and immigrated to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario in 1958 with her family at the age of 12. Teresa spent her early years in Canada caring for her brothers and sisters - raising them like her own. She met the love of her life, Rocky, in Sault Ste. Marie while working at Savoy’s Jewellers on Queen St. in 1964. They soon married and began their lives together working hard and starting their family. Teresa was instrumental in supporting Rocky in opening his first barber shop in the Churchill Plaza and then building their home from the ground up. Teresa loved going back to Italy to visit with her husband’s family in the early days. Soon they began their own tradition of spending as many summers as possible travelling throughout Italy and enjoying the beautiful beaches of Soverato on the Ionic Coast. Teresa loved all things beautiful in fashion, beauty and home decor. She took great pride in all that she had the privilege to have, cherishing and taking care of her possessions knowing how lucky she was to have them. She loved to look fashionable - always having the best of the best they could afford and exuded beauty inside and out. Teresa had a love and passion for music since she was 7 years old. She took many music lessons over the years and enjoyed teaching piano at home to the many students who crossed her path. She shared and passed on her love of music to her family and especially her daughter, Maria.  Friends and family are invited to visit Arthur Funeral home - Barton and Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. Sault Ste. Marie 705-759-2522) on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 6 to 9 p.m.  Funeral Mass will take place at St. Jerome’s Parish (26 Carmel Rd. Sault Ste. Marie) on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. Rev. Pat Woods officiating. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  Memorial contributions to ARCH, SAH Cancer Clinic or Tracey’s Dream would be appreciated.  Our family would like to thank all of Teresa’s family and friends who visited her daily and cared for her with small gestures. She very much appreciated all of the love, kindness, prayers and time all of those gave to her during her most challenging days.  Our family would also like to thank the SAH Oncology department for their thoughtfulness, care and support during her two year illness. Special thanks to Dr. Karen Booth and the entire staff at ARCH who cared and pampered Teresa during her final days allowing her to pass with dignity.
