After a courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, September 2, 2005 at the Plummer Hospital at the age of 79. Bertha has gone to be with her beloved husband Alfred who passed away in 1996. Bertha and Alfred immigrated to Canada in 1950 with very little and made a new life and home for themselves and their son in Sault Ste. Marie. Bertha was most proud of her son Fred and her two grandsons Chris and Kyle. Recently Bertha welcomed her daughter-in-law Patricia and new granddaughter Nilah with open arms and open heart. She will be sadly missed by her family in Austria and those whose hearts she touched here at home. Bertha was especially thankful to Dr. Walde, Dr. Spadafora and Dr. Buehner, the staff of the Palliative Care Unit and the staff of Pathways Retirement Home for their wonderful care. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Sunday, September 4, 2005 from 12 pm until time of memorial service at 2 pm in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the SAH Cancer Clinic would be appreciated by Bertha's family.
