It is with heavy hearts that the family of Julie Trowbridge announce her peaceful passing on March 20, 2021 in her 100th year, with her daughters by her side.

Mary Juliette was born on September 3, 1921 in Sault Ste Marie to beloved parents John and Rose Russell (both predeceased). She married Owen Donaghue (predeceased) in 1942 and they soon welcomed daughter Patricia Shelp (Charles). The family relocated to Spanish in 1953 and were blessed with daughter Deborah Joncas (Tom). Following the death of Owen, Julie married Elmer Trowbridge (predeceased) and was widowed in 1979. In her heart, Julie remained a “Soo” girl and loved to tell stories of her early years – going to camp on Lake Superior, trips across the river, window shopping on Queen Street and lining up for Greyhound games.

Cherished Grandmother “Nan” of Larry Shelp (Ann-Marie), Pamela Lortie (Reggie),

Bob Shelp (Michelle), Jamie Lynn Joncas (Late Byran) (Daniel) and Kendra Joncas (Mackenzie).

Proud great grandmother of Cody, Matthew, Samara, Parker, Spencer, Brooke, Morgan and Maddox.

Predeceased by brother and sister-in-law, and best friends Romeo and Ellen Russell.

Loving aunt of Randy and Sharon Russell and Joanne and Larry Sloss.

Julie will be missed by nieces, nephews, good friends and neighbours she met along the way. Special friend to Patsy.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the many staff members at St. Joseph’s Manor,

Elliot Lake, who provided exceptional care and companionship to our mother over the past year.

A special thank you to Dr. Larochelle and Dr. Sterling for their care over the years.

Donations may be made to the St. Joseph’s Foundation or the Spanish Medical Clinic Equipment Fund.

Cremation has taken place; a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Bourcier Funeral Home Ltd, 222 Spruce Street, Espanola, Ontario P5E 1C9
