March 17, 1949 - June 26, 2024

Donald Torgerson, son of the late Martha and Merlin “Red” Torgerson, passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital, surrounded by family. He will be fondly remembered by his loving wife Pamela.

Proud father of his children, Sarah (Jamie) and Andrew (Amanda). Cherished Grandpa to Lucas, Sam, and Waverley Torgerson, and Drew and Kyle Hallman. Don is survived by his sisters, Louise, and Barbara Van Buskirk (Ken) and his brother, Ronald (Nicole), and is predeceased by his sister Lynda.  Brother-in-law of Tim Neal (Sandy) and father-in-law Fred Unsworth (late Kathleen) will miss him deeply. Many nieces and nephews complete this family: Kevin Torgerson (late Kari), Cindy Powell (John), Cathy Van Buskirk (late Jonah), Jenson Van Buskirk (Stephanie), Mike Hawdon (Ali), Kim Irvine (Aaron) and Daniel Neal (Michelle).

Don loved his family and adored the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions. There was not a more loyal fan whether they were winning or losing. He loved his baseball, hockey, and football and spent many years playing all three.  A talented craftsman, Don could build and fix anything. He completed projects for family, friends and his church where he shared a special bond with Rev Nancy Ferguson.

All of us will miss Don’s sincerity, dry humor, and wit. I, Pamela, will miss his constant love.

As per Don's request, family and friends are invited to visit Emmanuel United Church (224 Bennett Blvd.) on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm for a visitation in "Donnie's" honour. A service will follow on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at Emmanuel United Church at 10:30 am. with Rev. Nancy Ferguson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations (made payable by cheque or online) to Emmanuel United Church or a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522). Please visit www.arthufuneralhome.com obituaries section to leave a message of condolence as a keepsake for the family.
