SWAN (Muhonen), Hikka

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family at War Memorial Hospital on March 11, 2004. She was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on January 25, 1935. Hikka was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an avid fast pitch softball player in her youth, playing for the Soo Lockettes and enjoyed bowling in the Michigan Majorette and Lock City bowling leagues. She also enjoyed working at Don Dee Lanes for many years. Surviving Hikka are her husband Jack of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, her son Mark (Traci) Swan of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, daughters Vicki (Mike) Steele of Medina, Ohio, Julie (Bill) Bentley and Kelli (Ron) Johnston of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Hikka was grandmother to Breanna and Jack Swan, Samantha and Danielle Steele, Lindsey Bentley, and Megan and Hanna Johnston. She is also survived by her brother Aimo (Doreen) Muhonen and her sister Shirley (Ralph) Aikens of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Also surviving are Leonard (Teresa) Lindquist of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Bob (Shirley) Swan of Naples, Florida, Dan (SueAnn) Swan of Petoskey, Michigan, Joan (Jerry) Menard of Ft. Myers, Florida, Nancy (Mike) Darling and Barbara (Lou) Lisiecki of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, as well as many nieces and nephews and her dog Sadie. Preceding Hikka in death are her parents Elino and Ida Muhonen and infant son Jack. Visitation will be held at Hovie Funeral Home in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on Sunday, March 14, 2004 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday, March 15, 2004 from 12 to 2 p.m. Funeral services will take place at Hovie Funeral Home on Monday, March 15, 2004 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Mike Keeney officiating. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in Hikka’s memory to Hospice of Chippewa County.
