Ki Son (Helen) Suk was the embodiment of kindness. She passed quickly from late-stage stomach cancer on May 13th, 2021, surrounded by her darling husband of 53 years, Min Soo Suk, and her loving daughters, Julia Suk and Angela Suk. She is survived by Min Soo, Julia, Angela, her three grandsons, Dylan George, Dexter George, Jameson Macfarlane, and her sons-in-law Jason George and Iain Macfarlane.

Born on December 7th, 1938, in Ansong Korea, Ki Son was the most boisterous voice on the playground as a young girl. The Korean War and the loss of her parents at an early age deeply affected her. As an early teen, she answered her call to service and knew she would become a nurse. Her vocation took her to Herne, Germany, where her tenderness rippled throughout the Korean and German communities. It was there that she met the love of her life, Min Soo. In 1968, they moved to Canada, started their family, and planted their roots in Sault Ste. Marie. Her patients and colleagues felt Helen’s gentle nature and diligence at the Plummer Memorial Hospital Surgical Ward. After eight years of service there, she became the lifeline for countless customers at Brookfield Market. With retirement came another change in the community to Angus, Ontario, where Ki Son continued to put the needs of others before her own.

While caring for others brought her great joy, Helen also loved to cook, garden, golf and ski in her younger days. Her affectionate smile and openness to listen to others made her a Mom and big sister to all. She worked tirelessly to make others feel at home, and ensured that we were all well fed!  Her laughter was infectious, and the twinkle in her warm eyes brought a smile to those around her. We will never forget her generosity, warmth, and acts of kindness.

She will be missed dearly by people throughout the world. We love you so much, and we will all be reunited, Mommy.
