STROM, Eric Alvar - It is with immense sorrow that we sadly announce the death of Eric on Thursday, March 7th, 2024 in his 69th year, surrounded by his loving family at the Sault Area Hospital.
Much loved and will be forever missed by Margaret, his wife of 43 years. Left with heavy hearts to mourn the loss of their devoted father are Adam Strom, Erica (Matthew) Nogalo, and Neil (Laura) Strom. Eric treasured the moments with his five cherished grandchildren. Mila, Dean, and Conrad Nogalo & Eva and Alice Strom will deeply miss their “Grandpa Eric.”
Loved son of the late Gladys (nee Johnson) and late Alvar Strom. Dear brother of Karl (Bernadette) Morin-Strom of North Bay, ON, Nancy (Mike) Jarvis of Little Current, ON, and Sandra Strom-Thibodeau (Brent). Beloved son-in-law of the late Aljesa (nee Oliverio) and late Fred Michaud. Special brother-in-law of Steven (late Susan) Michaud, late Christine Luhtanen, late William Michaud, and Jim (Patricia) Michaud. “Uncle Eric” will be held in the hearts of many nieces and nephews, as well as cousins and friends, and all who knew him.
Eric was a man of accomplished integrity, known for his strong work ethic, genuine character and unwavering dedication to his family. A well-respected man in his profession, Eric was revered for his intuitive leadership qualities. Eric’s admirable commitment to work was matched only by his deep love for his family. The cornerstone of his life, he provided guidance and wisdom to his children. In later years, he found delight in meticulously caring for his backyard oasis for his family to enjoy. Alongside his wife, Eric found the most joy in being a grandparent. Eric adored his grandchildren and took great pride in watching them grow.
His personal connections with friends and family were undoubtedly of great happiness and fulfillment for him. Eric’s legacy of humility, kindness and devotion will continue to inspire those he held close. His gentle strength and tender spirit leave behind a void that will be profoundly missed.
The family wishes to convey their sincere gratitude to family members and friends who graciously supported them with their thoughts, prayers and many acts of kindness. They would also like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the ICU at Sault Area Hospital, as well as the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at The Peter Munk Cardiac Centre (Toronto General Hospital) for their exemplary care and compassion. Family and friends are invited to visit Northwood Funeral Home (942 Great Northern Rd. 705-945-7758) on Thursday, March 14th, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Gerard Majella Parish (211 Pentagon Blvd.) on Friday, March 15th, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Father Alex Saurianthadathil officiating. Following the mass, Eric will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
