It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Velma Evelyn Marie St. Amand at the FJ Davey Home on March 17, 2023. She is now reunited with her loving husband of 72 years, Gordon. Lovingly remembered by her daughters the late Debrah (Dan), Cathy (Chris), Monique and Brenda (Kevin). Proud Nanny of Danny, Pauline (Shaun), Stephanie (Mike), Kelly (Jay), Michelle (Eric), Shellby, little Velma (Spencer), Hayley, Chanses and Kaylyn (Chris). Great Nanny to 11.

Proud daughter of the late Marcus and Mary Jane Doucette. Loving sister to the late Adele (Maheu), Shirley Denis (Joe), Diane Carruthers (Dave) and the late Barbara Beausoliel (Leo). Special friend to Judy Goudreault. Velma was a special aunt, sister-in-law, and cousin to many.

Velma was such a loving and kind woman. After Velma’s husband passed and with some resistance, she moved to the FJ Davey Home. There she met many new friends and was the Queen B of Cedar 3. Her loving and caring nature was embraced by many. Everyone loved her spirit at the Davey Home where she met many friends, especially Roxy. She was known in her younger years for her mastery of sewing, riding her bike all over town looking for the best bargain and had a love for the casino and lottery tickets. She was kind hearted and adored by many for her carefree, loving attitude and sense of humour.

The family would like to thank the staff at the FJ Davey Home for the care mom received. She truly was loved by all.

As per Velma’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the FJ Davey Home Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation (Payable online https://www.fjdhfoundation.com/donate/ - https://www.heartandstroke.ca/how-you-can-help/ways-to-give or by cheque).

Visit www.osullivanfuneralhome.com. to leave condolences for the family. Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 215 St. James St, 705-759-8456.

“Hope there’s scratch tickets in heaven.”
