SMITH, Hellen Norma Elizabeth (nee Barber)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Norma Smith at the Algoma Manor in Thessalon on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at the age of 85. Beloved wife of the late Harold Smith. Loving mother of Jack (Donna), Randy, Terry (Bradley Shewfelt), Garry (Cindy Hunter), Shelley Hawdon (Chuck) and Harold. Proud Grandma Norma to Jason (Tanya), Adam (Nicole), Carrie (Mike), Greg, Meagan (Brien), Garry (Danielle), Justin, Jessica (Lee), Chuck (Chelsea), Carley (Amanda), Ryan, Priscilla, Nicholas and predeceased by Curtis and Courtney. Cherished great grandmother of 27 and great great grandmother of 4. Norma is predeceased by her parents Jean and Miles Barber. Dear sister of Glen Barber and the late Grant Barber. Sister-in-law of  the late Allan Smith (late Lillian), the late Trudy Carter (late Orville) and the late Joyce Laity (late Ralph). Norma will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the staff at the Algoma Manor for the care and compassion shown to her and our family over the years and especially in her final days.
At Norma's request there will not be a funeral service. A private interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E. 705-759-2522). Memorial contributions (payable online or by cheque) to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
