November 25, 1929 - May 22, 2022. With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Harold at his home with his beloved bride by his side, Verlyn of 72 years.
He will be greatly missed by his children Jim (Jan), Marty (late Patricia), Patti McClelland (Glenn), late Harold "Hally" and late Randy. Grandfather of Brooke, Joshua, Jordan, Rachel, Jacob, Cody and Brittany. Great Grandfather of Ali, Jordan, Jackson, Wyatt, Noah, Zuria, Randy, Charlee and Francis. He is survived by his sisters, Maggie Guest of London, Ontario, Lillian Parson/Roles (late Glenn/ late Mickey) of Derby Kansas. Predeceased by his late siblings and spouses, Marjorie Trepasso (Joe), Albert (Rita), George (Mary), Vic (Mary), Dorothy Vena (James). Beloved son of the late Alfred and Clara Smith. Son-in-law of the late Gordon and Alma Pickard. Predeceased by his Brothers and Sisters-in-law William Pickard (Marigold), Edwin Pickard, Joy Mitchell (Herbert), June Jones (Gerald), Lois Jones (Ownie) and Gordon Pickard (Evelyn). He will be fondly missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends.
Harold and Verlyn loved to travel. He was a fierce cribbage player who loved to participate in tournaments. He took pride and joy in assigning comical nick names to his children, nephews and his wife (Tiger) lol. He began his career in Algoma Steel at the age of 16, to retire 40 years later, as a stationary engineer in the utilities department where he forged many long term friendships.
