SMALE

The Scrabble queen and master of the ‘Sorry’ board game has “whooped” us for the last time.

With broken hearts we are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Lucille Irene Smale (nee Irwin) after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer and its re-inforcements, bone and lymph cancer who together ganged up on her and it took them all to defeat her. She was surrounded by the love of her family. Beloved wife of John Smale for 37 years. Dearest mother of Jamie Eaton (Sheri) and Tammy Eaton (Brent Wedlock). Precious nana of Jesse and Jennifer Eaton and grandmother of Kelsey and Ryan Wedlock. Daughter of the late Roy and Ruth Irwin and daughter-in-law of the late Jack and Helen Smale. Sister of Judy Beckett (Norman), Norma Williams (Dave) and Frank Irwin (Ann). Sister-in-law of Carol Smale-Gemme (Maurice), Valerie Harron of Wisconsin, Herb Smale (Sheila), Lynne DeLavalle and the late Kenneth Smale (late Marion). Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Grand Gardens North at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, memorial donations to ARCH or the SAH Cancer Care Fund would be greatly appreciated. Lucille wanted to extend special thanks to the nursing staff of 3B at the SAH during her extended stays, Doctors Pearce, Booth, Dr. Jay and all the palliative care team and nurses of the Bayshore Home Care team. Also, a special thank you to all those who took the time to visit, call, bring flowers or gifts and all the well wishes of many.

Some never thought we would make it ‘Babe’, but only ‘til death did we part.

I’ll give you a daisy a day dear.

I’ll give you a daisy a day.

I’ll love you until, the rivers run still.

And the four winds we know, blow away.
