(March 5, 1929 - March 2, 2022) - It is with sorrow in our hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Gerry Shewfelt on Wednesday March 2, 2022 just short of her 93rd birthday.
Gerry passed away with dignity and grace at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH). Beloved wife to Milton Shewfelt for 50 years. Loving Mother to Suzanne Evoy (late Paul), Beverley Wing (Mick), late David Gjos (Patti) and Tim Gjos (Barb). Nana was a very proud grandmother of 9 - Beth (Rod), Johnny (Andrea), Megan (Luke), Lucas (Briana), Sarah, Rebecca, Rudy (James), Keegan (Lindsay) and Morgan. Great grandmother to 10 - Lauren, Jeffrey, Adam, Ella, Paige, Myla, Allyson, Lily, Darby and Clara. Predeceased by her parents John and Esther Jackson. Dear sister of Jim (Barb), Dale (Debbie) and predeceased by sisters Ethel, Roberta (late Wes), Shirley (late John) and Mary Ellen (Chester). Sister-in-law of Ralph (Iva), Marlene (Lennie) and the late Clifford (late Sandra). Special Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Mom "Gerry" loved her time at camp at Portlock Bay and loved when people drove in or came by boat to visit. One of Gerry's passions in life was gardening and flowers but more than that enjoyed when family and friends would drop in and would always invite them to stay for tea, lunch or supper.
In keeping with Gerry's wishes a private family service will be held in the spring with interment at Richards Landing Cemetery. Memorial donations (payable by cheque or online) to ARCH would be appreciated by the family. A sincere thank you to her home PSW - Nancy and Palliative nurse Nina and to the wonderful staff at ARCH.
