Survived by sister-in-law Blanche Ash but predeceased by her only brother Allan Dewar, two brothers-in-law (Chet and Harold) and three sisters-in law (Isobel, Verna and Alice). She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Janet and Ed attended Mother of God Goulais River Catholic Church for the 10 years that they lived on Haviland Shores Drive. Janet in her youth grew up on a farm in the Wellington County (West of Kitchener) and as we grew up we had great memories of our family visits to southern Ontario. She was one of the founding members of the Sault Figure Skating Club and was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary for the Pee Wee Arena. There was never a time that she didn’t have knitting needles or a crochet hook in her hand making toques for the hockey teams that the boys played for, making quilts for the grand babies, afghans for almost every one that she knew and in the last years of her knitting years she made beautiful socks for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She sewed professionally, including the wedding dresses of two of her daughters and all of the bridesmaids. She also cooked at the Pee Wee arena for many summers when the Sault Summer Skating School operated out of that arena. She coached the boy’s hockey teams when asked and never said no to any request that came her way. If you ask any of her children or grandchildren you will hear wonderful stories of all the great things that she did in her life that made changes in our lives. Mom/Nanny you will be greatly missed. We love you. Thank you to the staff at Pathways and ARCH who made Janet’s life comfortable in the end. Our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. David Fera, not only her doctor but a friend as well. Thanks to Dr. Buehner, everyone on the palliative care staff, the special staff from We Care who came in daily to support mom and Nadene from Sunshine Homecare. A celebration of Janet’s life will be held at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 from 2 – 4 with a private service to follow. After cremation she will be taken to Harriston, Ontario where interment will take place on August 1, 2015 and she will be joined with her husband Ralph and her son Andy. In lieu of flowers donations to ARCH or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.arthurfuneralhome.com.
