SERRAO, Fortunata Nina Rosa

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our loving mother Fortunata. Survived by her husband of 60 years Foca Serrao. Loving mother of Anna DeGregorio (Marino), Ercole Serrao (Dawn), Caterina Serrao-Labelle (Paul), Gaspare Serrao (Kerri), and devoted and forever cherished daughter Raffela Serrao. Raffela was our mother’s rock and the one who made our mother’s life so much easier. We will forever be grateful for all the hard work, dedication, and patience that Raffela put forth on a daily basis in making our mother so happy to the very end. Predeceased by her loving mother Anna Felice and father Carmino Lepore. Survived by her loving sister Giuseppina Paciocco (late Roberto), her late brothers Lorenzo Lepore (late Carmela) and Giuseppe Lepore (late Chicchina). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Our mother was greeted at the gates of heaven with open arms by her loving granddaughter Mya Emilia Rosa Serrao Labelle and will forever be loved and missed as special Nana to Tina Montgomery (Marty), Frank DeGregorio, Eric and Kristina Serrao. Over the years our mother received so much love from her special babies/grandchildren Ethan and Bailey Serrao and an extra run for her buck with great grandson Grayson Montgomery. Our mother will always be with us. She is the whisper of the leaves as we walk down the street, she is the smell of certain foods we will remember, the flowers we pick and the fragrance of life itself. She is the sound of the rain that lulls us to sleep, the colours of a rainbow, and Christmas morning. A very special thank-you to our neighborhood friend and nurse Lisa Caruso from the ICU for making our mother and family comfortable and helping us to understand our mother’s transition to a peaceful passing. Funeral mass to be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 10:00am at St. Veronica’s Church on Douglas Street.
