September 22, 2012- August 27, 2024- It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Dallas. During the night, while asleep the angels came and carried him home. Cherished and much loved son of Christine Manitowabi and Justin Schell. Adored little brother of Dylan Schell. Special grandson of Sharon Rendell (late David Patterson), Rene Schell (late John), Cindy Manitowabi and Alfred Gerner. Nephew of Joshua Schell of London, Barb Montgomery (Steve) of Hamilton, the late Ashley Manitowabi Gerner, Mike Gerner (Jen), Rick Gerner, Melissa Patterson (Jon Beatty) of Chilliwack, BC, Mike Patterson of Timmins, and Chelsea Schell of Kemptville. Great nephew of Cathy Beland (Aime) , Lou Rendell (Deidra), Ron Rendell (Dorothy) both of Hornepayne, Karen Gillies (Jack), Garfield Rendell (Renate), Late Mary Vosper (late Tom), late Ethel Lacey (late Scotty), late Pauline Rendell, Joanne West (Norman), Alma Schell, Peter Schell (Shelley), Bob Schell (Mandy), Tom Schell (Barb), and Dan Schell (late Pauline). Special cousin of many and especially close with Derek Mc Callum, Liam and Zack Montgomery, Taner Schell, Reece Patterson, Cheyenne Rendell, and Sierra Rendell, who he lovingly nicknamed "Truck". He will be missed by his special fur -brother, George.
Dallas faced many health challenges throughout his twelve short years. He showed great courage and strength through every obstacle. He was known for his big beautiful smile. Dallas took great pride in all his accomplishments with an excited, "I did it!". He showed us all what was truly important in life, his quick wit and humour brightened each and every day, and he had a belly laugh that melted your heart. Dallas showed us how to see what so many never do.
He developed a love for hockey and greatly enjoyed watching the Soo Greyhounds and the Toronto Maple Leafs. He had a keen knowledge of the game and enjoyed checking the stats, and boy would he let you know if a goal was scored or a penalty was called. Dallas enjoyed watching the cars pass by from his patio and at Nana Sharons, he even knew which vehicles each of us drove. He loved his evening car rides with his dad and they would make each one an adventure, sometimes meeting new friends along the way. He loved to watch his favourite shows on his tablet, and even once he got his own he still prefered to use Uncle Jacks. Dallas and our family have many treasured memories at Cedarway in Hornepayne. Dallas especially loved that he had his very own bunkie. He enjoyed playing at the beach, boat rides and fishing. Every moment spent together as a family will be forever cherished.
Dallas touched so many lives. His love and compassion will continue to guide us forever. He taught us to keep going in spite of it all. Dallas was an inspiration.He will remain in our hearts forever and will always be loved.
To his other caregivers; Dallas loved to be with Nana Sharon. She loved and attentively cared for him. She shared her knowledge, sense of play, love and laughter and made sure to give him every opportunity to experience what every child should. Dallas especially loved his Uncle Jack, they shared a loving bond that was evident the first time they met. Dallas embraced the comfort of Auntie Karen who he loved. He always wanted to sit with her to share stories, knowledge, laughter and hugs. For anyone a part of The Auntie Karen and Dallas "chatline", please know we loved you all and was so excited each time you answered his call. To all Dallas' family, friends, Eastview School classmates, and educators, thank you for being a part of his journey. Each one of you played such an important role in his life and he loved each one of you. He was a member of Brunswick House First Nation.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road) on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Helen Smith officiating. Memorial donations made to The Sick Kids Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
Run and play, pain-free, Dallas, as every child should. We know you are safe in the arms of Papa Dave. We will miss you more with every passing day.
