ROBINSON, Lloyd BIO

(October 30, 1923 - January 20, 2019) - Passed away peacefully at the Algoma Manor on Sunday, January 20th at the age of 95.  Beloved husband of the late Patricia (nee Yacoback) for 67 years, now reunited forever.  Deeply loved father of Roseanne MacDonald of Thunder Bay, Lorna Robinson of Calgary, Ella Turner (late Eric) of Sault Ste. Marie and Lorne "Spanky" Robinson (Shelley) of Desbarats.  Loving and proud grandpa of Meghan Fawn (Mitch) of Thunder Bay, the late Trisha, Erin Oberding (Dave) of Calgary and Mellisa Hardy (late Bruce) of Bruce Mines.  Cherished great grandfather of 9.  Special grandpa to his furry friend Riley.  "All those special visits and cookies at the Algoma Manor will be greatly missed."  Lloyd was born in Plummer, ON in 1923 and was the oldest son of the late Stanley and Laura Robinson.  Predeceased by his siblings Margaret Woolley (Fred), Inis Blackstock (Alvin), Joy McPhee (Daniel) and Lorne "Spanky" Robinson.  Brother-in-law of the late John Jacob Yacoback (late Ruth) and late John "Jack" Manley Yacoback.  Lloyd "Robby" will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Lloyd was a hoist man who worked on the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway and later retired from Algoma Steel as locomotive engineer.  He was the last engineer at Algoma Steel to operate ol' 67 steam engine that now sits at Bellevue Park.  Lloyd was a lifetime Legion Member and was a former President of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 211 in Bruce Mines and is now chatting with his good Legion buddy the late Merritt Strum.  Lloyd was known as the town's handyman and if he couldn't fix it - it was definitely broke (there was nothing he couldn't build).  He always had those pliers in his pocket that pulled teeth and could adjust anything.  "Time meant nothing - but do the job right."  Lloyd loved music and played the mandolin with friends in the band "The Country Bumpkins".  Lloyd loved boating and was one of the founding members of the Bruce Mines Yacht Club and was the "Captain" of the famous "Roloello".  Friends are invited to visit at the Bruce Mines United Church on Friday January 25, 2019 from 6 pm until time of funeral service at 7 pm.  Rev. Erasmus Madimbu officiating.  Spring interment will take place at the Cloudslee Cemetery.  All are invited following the service to attend the Bruce Mines Legion Br. 211.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 211 or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
