It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we announce the passing of Larry Robinson, a beacon of joy to all who knew him. Larry left us peacefully on the 19th of November, 2024, in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on May 29, 1945, in Parry Sound, Ontario, Larry was a man whose warmth and kindness knew no bounds. He shared 58 wonderful years with his loving wife, Louise (Nee Vigneault), and together they raised a beautiful family.

Larry was the cherished father of Kirk Robinson and Lisa (Tom) Dallaire, and he took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to Joshua, Jessica (Zach), Robert,Luke and Daniel. He reveled in the joy of being a great-grandfather to little Charlotte, whose presence brought him immense happiness.

Larry was the last leaf on his family tree, predeceased by his parents, Ed and Ester Robinson, and his many brothers and sisters—Clarence, Lois (Bob) Lockhart, Floyd, Stanley, Bernard, Rose, William, Mary, Dorothy, Bernice, Phyllis, Joseph, and Frank. His memory will be treasured by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Camille (Mariette) Vigneault and Claude (Ladorna) Vigneault, as well as by his many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Larry. His lifelong friendships with Pat (Wayne) Beek and Norm MacKay were a testament to his loyalty and the deep bonds he formed throughout his life.

Larry's career at Algoma Steel spanned 30 years, where he not only dedicated himself to his work but also to the wellbeing of his colleagues. He played an instrumental role in teaching Joint Health and Safety, ensuring a safer work environment for all. His retirement did not mean a retreat from active life; instead, he found joy in volunteering and community involvement, particularly during the holiday season.

Known for his jolly demeanor and a heart full of generosity, Larry became a local legend as Santa Claus. His love for bringing joy was evident as he lit up the faces of seniors on the Elks Seniors light tours and as he brought laughter and excitement to the children on the pediatric floor of the local hospital. His surprise arrivals by boat at camp for Christmas in July celebrations.

Larry will be remembered as a loving, funny, and friendly individual who never failed to lift the spirits of those around him.

As we bid farewell, Larry's life was a journey of joy, care, and unconditional love, and although he has departed the memories of his spirited personality will last forever.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Berry, Dr. Shafie, Dr.  Landry, Dr. Khot and Dr. Ghosh and the wonderful Nurses in the ICU Shelly, Carly and Stephanie and many more.

At Larry's request, cremation has taken place and inurnment will occur on Wednesday, November 27th, 2024 at 1pm. A celebration of life will be planned for the spring.
