February 25, 1955 - October 6, 2021- With deepest sadness we regret to announce the sudden passing of our dear Sandy. Loving wife and best friend of Bob. Much loved second Mom to Jason (Noel) and Andrew (Elizabeth) Rathwell. Grammy to Jynx the cat. Daughter of the late Randolph and Dorothy Swann of Cumberland, MD. Loving sister-in-law of Carla Richardson (Len), Sheldon Rathwell (Shelley), Rick Rathwell (M.J.) of Camlachie, ON, the late Linda Demodovich (Boris), Kathy Zuccato (Phil), the late Billy Williams (Karen) and Chris Williams-Reid (Tim) of London, ON. Beloved aunt and great aunt to many. Very special great aunt to Aiden and Carter Quinton.
Music played such a big part in Sandy's life. She was the choral music director at the high school in Cumberland, MD and then after marrying Bob in 1993, she taught in Rudyard, MI. One of her choirs in Cumberland sang at their wedding and they were fantastic. After retiring from Rudyard, she joined the "family" at Case's Music in Sault Ste. Marie, ON where she taught voice and instruments and also initiated the "Mommy & Me" program. Her latest adventure was joining the choir at Harmony St. Mark's United Church in Richards Landing, where she will be so dearly missed. She and Bob also video-taped all the services for Sunday at the church ever since the covid pandemic began. Sandy and Bob lived in the Landing for the last four years and she was so glad to be able to move there. Sandy loved the Island and they loved her right back. Another of her passions was genealogy and she was keeper of our family history.
