Emily Ratcliff took her last breath in the peaceful setting of ARCH on Friday July 26, 2024.

Predeceased by her husband Elwood. Emily was most proud of her children Diane (Don) Tremblay, Karen (Grant) Lewis, Judy Ratcliff, and Scott (Michele) Ratcliff. She was the grandmother of 8, Robert (Lisa) and Todd (Emily) Tremblay, Gregory and Douglas Lewis, Holly Ratcliff, and Jamie, Joshua and William Ratcliff. She was the great grandmother of including Tucker, Tyson, Mikayla, Addisyn, Jeremy, Brandy, Jacob and Jennifer.

Emily was the daughter of the late Mary Grimard (Sayers) and Leopold. She had enjoyed phone calls and cards from her sister Pauline Cairns, and her brother Joel (Denise) Ratcliff. She spoke often about her siblings the late Lea (George) Miller, the late Jackie (Harry) Ford, the late June (Leo) Gravelle, Gary Ratcliff, Paul Grimard, and the late Pierre Grimard. She enjoyed talking about the many adventures the children enjoyed while roaming the east end before it was so developed.

Emily loved to talk about the many things she learned during those years, like sewing, baking, quilting and knitting. She felt she was lucky to have Elwood, a hard-working quiet man to spend her life with.

As life unfolded, after the death of Elwood, she became good friends with Bud Dawson. Together they spent their days with family and long car rides, enjoying walks through parks and the forests. Later, Emily spent her last two years in the company of friends at Pathways Retirement Home where she loved her room and the wonderful supportive environment. She remained active with her friend Guy Druery who faithfully supported her each day till her last day.

Emily had lived a long full life seeing more things than she dreamed of as a child. She enjoyed the visits with Marianne, Louise, Linda, and David.

She enjoyed excellent health care at the best run program we experienced, the Indigenous Friendship Centre guided by Dr: Quon.

In her last days she enjoyed the wonderful care of the ARCH staff under the kind eyes of Dr. Wilson. All the people including staff, volunteers and other patients are truly angels on earth at hospice.

As she planned, her prearranged private funeral will be held, and she will rest beside Elwood.

In her memory any donations to ARCH would be appreciated. Payable by cheque.
