It is with deep sadness, yet gratitude, that Judith’s family announces her passing on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, in The Weyburn General Hospital, Weyburn, Sask., at the age of 78.
Judith was the loving wife, of 57 years, of Roy Rains and mother of Scott (Cathy) and was predeceased by her infant son, Donn. She was the cherished daughter of the late John and Christine Starratt and the much loved sister of Dorothy. She was the daughter-in-law of Les and Minerva Rains and sister-in-law of Neil (Ann-deceased) Rains and Grant (Rosie) Rains. Judith was the loving Gramma of Zachary Rains (Jaylee) and Lesli (Sweet Cheeks) Rains and step-Gramma of Ryley and Caden Davis. She was the proud Great Gramma of Kayson, Aurora, Evander, Saeliia and Lachlan and aunt to 10 surviving nieces and nephews.
Judith was born on the Manitoulin Island and moved to St. Joseph Island in the Fall of 1949. She attended Harmony Public School, Grs. 1-8, graduated SJIDHS in 1964, attended The Plummer Memorial School of Nursing till she graduated and received the black velvet stripe on her cap in 1967.
Judith will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and many friends, both here and in Saskatchewan.
The funeral service will take place at The New Apostolic Church, in Weyburn, Sask., on Thursday, October 31, 2024, following her cremation.
