Elwood passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the age of 77. Loving father of Ryan Powley (Leigh) and Katrina Jakola (Kristin). Cherished Poppa of Veronica, Ethan, Nate, Gemma, and Aili. Beloved son of the late Len and the late Jenny Powley. Beloved brother of Morris (late Mary) of Fonthill, the late Tim of Orillia, late Janice, late Larry, late Judy, and the late Joseph.

Elwood was a dedicated and loving father. He was not a man of many words, but fathered by example with his calm, kind, and patient nature. He often traveled with Ryan and Katrina during summer vacation and they will always remember fondly the fun adventures and that he always joined them on even the scariest roller-coaster.

He was deeply devoted to his family and friends and never joined any gathering empty handed. His generosity and thoughtfulness will long be remembered by many.

Woody had varied interests like gardening, hunting, photography, concerts, and road trips. Hopping in the car and driving to Wawa for a good cup of coffee was never out of the question for him.

A large part of Woody's life was his 58-year career at Algoma Steel. He was known as a "legend" by his coworkers there. His humble spirit, loyalty and dependability were always appreciated.

Dad/Poppa, you have taught us to smile often, speak gently and be kind. (Edgar Cayce) You've been so kind and generous and we never could have come this far without you. (Natalie Merchant) You will be missed and loved forever.
