PISTOR, Rosalia - BIO
As she wished, Rose passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 in her 88th year. Beloved wife and soulmate of Lino for 67 years. Cherished mother of Frank (Margaret), John, Lino (Wendy), Eugene (Pat), Vincent (Terri), Kevin (Kimberley), Stasia (David Jaffray) and Giacomo.  Devoted Momka of Andrea (Tyson), Tyson (Tammi), Tyler (Kate), Jessica, late Matthew, Marc (Amanda), Jordan, Jennifer (Bruce), Shelley (Chad), Jill, Liam, Taryn, Alexander, Anastasia, Rosalia, Ashley (Andrew), Danielle (Carl), Jessica (Steve), Jacob (Kasey) and Nicholas (Jessie). She was deeply loved by her 23 great-grandchildren.  Rose was predeceased by her parents Karol and Rosalia Simon, her mother and father-in-law Anastasia and Franco Pistor, sisters Mary Ribic (late Joe), Virginia Ford, brothers Herb (late Shirley), Stanley, Karl, and brothers-in-law Louis and Fulvio (late Leona).  Rose will be missed by her sisters Bernadette (Roy) Hilderley, and Janis Schnablegger (Walter) and brothers George and Joseph, along with her sisters-in-law Rosalie Simon, Ann Simon, and Gloria Pistor.  Rose always held dear her many nieces and nephews within the Simon and Pistor families, as well as her many Godchildren, and extended family.  She will be remembered fondly by Mary, Tracey, and Dana, as well as her cousins and friends.  Rose loved to sing and was a member of several choirs, including the Mount Carmel and Marconi Choirs.  She was a longtime resident of "the West End" and enjoyed many lifelong friendships and fond memories. Our mother Rose was described to us by a friend as “ a smart, beautiful, gentle, peaceful, gracious, loving mother…. All who knew her, loved her….”  Our simple house was everyone’s home.  It was not unusual for our friends to visit our parents when we were not even home.  We could find her feeding children from our street, or entertaining them.  For those who can remember, there were many late night coffee royals and impromptu meals for friends and family alike. She was a Mom and Momka to many and all that needed someone special in their lives.  Friends are invited to visit at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton and Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East 705-759-2522) on Sunday, April 8, 2018 between 6 pm -8 pm. Funeral Mass to take place at Precious Blood Cathedral on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 11am. Rev. Hamish Currie officiating.  Special thanks are extended to Holly Febbraro and the team of nurses from ParaMed, the Personal Support Workers from CBI Home Health, along with the physicians and nursing staff of Sault Area Hospital 3A for their care and compassion.  Mom was thankful for her family doctor, Dr. Beck, and his staff.  Memorial contributions to The Journey, Soup Kitchen or SAH Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
