Age 64, of Pickford, Michigan, and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, died unexpectedly at his home in Pickford on March 17, 2016. He was born April 2, 1951, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, to Oliver and Dorothy (Addison) Pidgen. Gary lived in Sault Ste. Marie and Silver Water, Manitoulin Island, for much of his life. He worked at Algoma Steel for 25 years and was currently working for Triple M Metals. Gary loved golfing and hunting. Gary is survived by his wife, Marcia Ruth (Basel) Pidgen, whom he married July 6, 1996; son, Bradley Pidgen; daughter, Keri Pidgen; step-son, Scott (Jessica) Wickersham; step-daughter, Elizabeth Wickersham; and grandchildren, Mackenzie, Maddisyn, and Olivia Evans, Annik Pidgen, and Emma and Jacob Wickersham. He is also survived by sisters, Stella Swift and Judy (Roland) Cornacchi; brother, Dennis (Sharon) Pidgen; mother-in-law, Ruth Basel; brother-in-law, Terry (Anne) Basel; sister-in-law, Joan (Ron) Altman; and many nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother-in-law, Charles Swift. Michigan services will be held Tuesday, March 22, at R. Galer Funeral Home, 24549 S. M-129 in Pickford. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. followed by the funeral service beginning at 1:00 P.M. There will also be a memorial celebration in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Gary's life at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758) on Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 12:00 Noon until 3:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Youth Group, 460 W.
