Cherished grandma to Adam (Amandine), Ryan (Jessica), Erica (Hayden), Lauren (Mike), Nadia (Jonathan), Cameron and Griffin. Proud great grandma "Gigi" to Ryder, Owen and Jack. Sister to Richard Morettin (Marisa) and sister-in-law to the late Rudy Peres (late Angelina). Also survived by many nieces and nephews and friends.
Clelia was a maverick, fiercely independent and kind. Being very smart and curious as a young girl, she accelerated three times during grade school, entering high school at 12 years old. Her passion was health care and with that purpose she graduated from the St. Mary’s School of Nursing becoming a fully trained Registered Nurse at the age of 20. With the vision and support of Dr. Tom Ferrier and the Group Health Centre, in 1975, our mother became one of three in the Sault to graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She spent her career at the Group Health Centre as a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She balanced a very busy professional life, always present as a loving mother for her family. We traveled, skied and spent many vacation days in Florida with our cousins. As proud as she always was of her children and family, we also were so very proud of her accomplishments, her love for health care and the many patients she treated over the years.
Clelia was a wonderful cook, with a one of a kind Biscotti recipe that she became well known for. Another key aspect of her personal life was the rich group of friends that she and Gio fostered endearing friendships with.
Retirement was just that for Clelia. She enjoyed life travelling with her beloved Gio and being at the cottage with her family. She lived a full life!
A heartfelt thank you to 3C and 2B units at the Sault Area Hospital and to Dr. George and Dr. Parsons for their compassionate care. A heartfelt thank you to ARCH for the exceptional care given to our mother in her final days. Dr. Booth, words cannot express the excellent and compassionate care provided to our family by both the staff and volunteers. You are angels on earth.
