It’s with great sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Harold at the age of 74 in Ottawa. Loving husband of Heather (Nee Bissaillion), with whom he was about to celebrate 50 years of marriage. Proud father of Holly (Alex) Hill and his pre-deceased son Harlin Pelky.  Three of his greatest loves were his Grandchildren, Lily, Harlin and Grace who will miss their Papa dearly. Harold was also a foster Dad to Freedom Wabano when he was a baby and continued to have a very close relationship with him, even today.

Harold was the son of the late Arthur and Agnes (Nee Simpson) Pelky.  Brother to Iris (late Gaetan) Maurice, Judy (late Brent) Wilson, Garfield (Donna), Donald, Dennis and pre-deceased by Ludja, Garry (late Rhea) and Calvin. Son in law to the late Windy and Marie (Nee Young) Bissaillion and many brother and sister in-laws. Harold was Uncle to many nieces and nephews and Godfather to Cheryl. Harold had many close friends including Marla and Keith (Johnston), Fred, Wayne, Jim, Stretchco, Gary, Tim, Dave, Marcel, Mark, Bob, Marty and many others who predeceased him.

Harold was a welder at Algoma steel in Sault Ste. Marie where he lived most of his life. Prior to this he worked in many mines including, Campbell River, Sudbury, Elliot Lake and Spragge. Two years ago he made the decision to move to Ottawa to be closer to his daughter Holly, son in-law Alex and 3 grandchildren.

Harold will be fondly remembered for many reasons, but mostly for the great love he had for his family and friends. He will always be remembered for the things he loved doing most, such as:
    •    Being at camp (hunting, fishing, boating, 4 wheeling, snowmobiling and just being in the bush) He always considered himself to be a “Mountain Man” LOL
    •    Tinkering around in his garage
    •    He had a passion for music and could sing any song word for word
    •    He love driving especially the thousands of trips he made to Ottawa to see his daughter
    •    Another passion was travelling to Europe, Spain, Portugal, Alaska, Jamaica, Africa, Florida just to name a few but his favourite was the Yukon

He will be forever missed by those who knew him best!

As per Harold’s request there will be no service but he will be laid to rest with his son Harlin in the summer at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Sault Ste. Marie, the city he always considered home.

In memory of Harold we will link to one of his favourite songs: Go Rest High on that Mountain by Vince Gill
