PACI Aristodemo

February 15, 1925 – December 27, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Aristodemo Paci announce his passing on Sunday, December 27th at the Sault Area Hospital with loved ones by his side. He was 95 years old.

Demo, as he was fondly known, was born in the small town of San Pietro in Calibano near Pesaro, Italy on February 15th, 1925. He was the son of Ilde Fastiggi and Mario Paci and with the emigration of his father to Argentina in pursuit of work, he was raised by his devoted mother. After surviving the many challenges of the Second World War and longing for a better life, decisions were made to emigrate to Sault Ste Marie where family members were already residing. His mother arrived in 1950 followed by Demo the next year. His future wife, Venerina, joined him in 1952 and they were married within two weeks of her arrival. They raised two children, Marsha and Robert, and lovingly cared for his mother, Ilde, in their home for 25 years. Demo found steady employment at Algoma Steel where he worked until his retirement in 1985.

Demo was active and well known in the Sault community and was very proud to have served as manager and president of the Marconi Society for many years. Nothing gave him more pleasure than to sit with family and friends to share jokes and talk politics. He was fiercely proud of his family, particularly his four grandsons, and their many accomplishments. In his 70’s, Demo discovered the computer and Microsoft Word and found immense satisfaction in writing. Among several books, he completed his autobiography, a treasured family keepsake.

Cheerful, loving, and devoted, Demo will be dearly missed by his wife of 68 years, Venerina; his daughter, Marsha (Eros); his son, Robert (Anita); his grandsons, Adriano, Gianmarco, Adam (Alexandra) and Matthew along with numerous friends and relatives. Many thanks to the team on 3B and 3C at the Sault Area Hospital for their compassionate care and to the many Personal Support Workers, especially Gail, Maude, Laurie and Sarah, for their attentive and loving assistance over the years.

Due to Covid restrictions, a private funeral service will be held with immediate family only at Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East 705-759-2522) on Wednesday, December 30th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.

During these challenging times and upon reflection of Demo’s life, the family finds much comfort and hope in one of his favourite and uplifting sayings “Tutti allegri!”
