With great sorrow, the family of Mary Margaret "Manya" Novakuske (nee Dominick) announces her passing at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice on November 20th, 2023, in her 86th year. She is now reunited with John Allen Novakuske, her beloved husband of fifty years.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Tena Dominick, her siblings Anne, Peter, William (late Olive), Michael (late Mary), Maxwell and Paul Dominick (late Doreen) and Stella Peet (late Arno) as well as her stepson Terry Novakuske and her nephew Michael Jr. Dominick (late Liz) .

She is lovingly remembered by her stepchildren and their families: Christine Lavallee (Nil), Sharon Bracken (Mark), Liza Stewart (Larry) and Marla Padley (George Silvestri). Aunt Manya will be very dearly missed by her nieces and nephews and their families: Terrie McCormick, Chris Dominick (Charlene), Robert Dominick (Audrey), Lennard Peet (Kathryn) and Nick Dominick (Karen Gregg).

Mary was blessed to have a circle of very close and dear friends and relatives with whom she shared many laughs and good times. Mary and Allen loved travelling in their RV and were snowbirds in Mesa, Arizona for several years. Always active, she enjoyed bocce, golfing, curling, and bowling. Mary had a strong faith and was active in her parish at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, where she volunteered her skills making cabbage rolls and perogies. Mary was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority for 64 years. A football fan, she especially liked cheering for her favourite team, the Green Bay Packers.

The family would like to express its gratitude to the health care teams of the Sault Area Hospital Critical Care Unit and the Algoma Residential Community Hospice for their compassionate care of Mary.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation at O'Sullivan Funeral Home (215 St. James St, SSM) on Tuesday, November 28th, 2023, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A Sorority Service will be held before the visitation at 5:30 pm at O’Sullivan Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, November 29th, 2023, at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church (293 St Georges Ave E, SSM) at 10:00 am with Rev. Michael Hayes officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
