NOGALO, John James

(April 27, 1934 - April 26, 2020) - Peacefully, at the Sault Area Hospital, on Sunday, April 26, 2020 one day shy of his 86th birthday.  Best friend and loving husband of Airi Nogalo - his wife of 63 years.  Dear father of James (Chrisandra Frech), Christopher (Anita Patel) and David (Dana Peterson).  Much loved and proud papa of grandchildren, Michael, Liisa and Wade  Nogalo (Whitby) and Ella, Ezra and Callum Peterson (Sault Ste. Marie).
Predeceased by his parents Jure and Marija Nogalo.  Predeceased by his siblings Rose, Florence Dunlop (Keith), Anne Bratina (Dan), Michael Nogalo, Nick Nogalo (Eveline) and twin brother, Dan Nogalo (Joyce).  Cherished brother-in-law to Doug Panttila and late Don Panttila (Simone) all of B.C.  Much loved uncle to many nieces and nephews in Sault Ste. Marie, southern Ontario and British Columbia.  John lived his whole life in Sault Ste Marie.  He worked for 35 years at Algoma Steel and really enjoyed his 35 years of retirement.  His life was made rich by many wonderful friendships and his close bond with family.  A lifetime of special memories were created at camp on Haviland Bay.  A very special thank you to Drs. Bowen and Fera and to Drs. Gu, Bignell, Shafiee and Berrie for their wonderful care.  The Nogalo family is very grateful to the nurses and team at 3A for their dedication to John's care.  Many thanks to Dr. Curran, Michelle Nogalo and Tracey Vanderloo.  A Private Family Funeral Service will be held at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East 705-759-2522) on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.  Friends are invited to view the service online, go to www.funeraweb.tv and select John's name.  Private interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  Memorial donations (payable by cheque) to Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.  Please visit Arthur Funeral Home website obituaries to leave memories and condolences as a keepsake for the family.
