With sadness and shattered hearts, we announce the passing of Collin Dakota Newman beloved son of Joe and Stacey Newman, younger brother of Daniel and big brother of Sean and Samantha. Loving grandson to John and Sharon Major, Theresa Newman and the late Irwin Newman, and Carmen and Joanne Gioventu. Cherished nephew of Vicky and Dave McGarry, Jason and Keirsten Newman, Bridget and Joe Maitland, Terri-Lynn Charette, David and Hilda Major, Ann-Marie and John Roberts, Cindy and the late Al Rancourt, John Major, Cathy and Roy James, Michael Major and Steve Russell, and Shawna and Thomas Cory. Special friend to Courtney Walker. Dear cousin and friend to many. He was born our little “Buddha Baby” complete with a round belly and sweet smile. He quickly grew into our “Mowgli” boy who regularly shed his clothes feeling most comfortable in only underwear. This lasted until his obsession with Toy Story when he spent the better part of two years dressed in a Buzz Lightyear costume and refusing all other clothing except cowboy boots. To him, this was a perfect combination. Later, Collin discovered his connection with the spirit of the bear and earned himself another family given nickname of Colly-Bear one he never seemed to mind, even as he grew older. The bear had a strong connection with Collin as he grew into an impressive and large young man who earned the nickname “Bear Claw” from his peers. He was a nature lover who spent a lot of time outdoors and at camp. He liked to swim and was the Cannonball King fearlessly jumping from the bluffs or the high slide at camp. He was a fisherman, hunter, snowmobiler, and a bonfire comedian and storyteller. He loved to drive any and everything and he especially enjoyed cruising around in his first truck, which he was so proud to buy, with his furry sidekick Rosie. He was intelligent and often was the voice of reason among his peers yet was always ready for fun! Collin was a gentle giant with a kind heart and a quick comeback. He was a stubborn guy who fiercely loved his family, friends, and his Prince Township “ballers,” including Eric. He is gone far too soon but in his short life, he has made a lasting impact on so many people. We will always keep you close in our hearts and we love you Colly-Bear to infinity and beyond.
