It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather at the age of 84 in Orange Beach, Ala. on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
His beloved wife, Marilyn (Fortier), of 60 years was by his side.
Loved by his children, Paula Carello, Lisa Burke (Jeff) and Gerry Nanne (Shannon). Exceptional and much loved grandfather of six - Elisha Huestis (Jordan), Anthony Carello (Celina), Brandon Foster (Emily), Corey Carello (Kelly), Dominic and Sabrina Nanne and two bonus grandkids, Ben and Taylor Burke.
Gerry is survived by his brother Ben Nanni (Linda) and sister-in-law Dorina Nanne as well as his in-laws, Lillian Luzzi (Jerry), Jackie Heil, Jerry Fortier, Pauline Tuckett (Ric) and Maryann Kendrick (Ritch). Loved by too many nieces, nephews and partners to name.
Waiting with open arms to greet him and play a round of bocce and golf are his parents Ed and Margaret Nanni, his brother Silvio Nanne, and many other family members and friends.
Gerry was such a special man – incredibly loving and so well loved. His sudden passing is a huge loss for all who knew him especially his close-knit family. He was such a positive presence, always smiling, encouraging and, generally, just a pleasure to be around. His infectious laugh and piercing blue eyes will never be forgotten.
We are so grateful that during his long years of retirement he enjoyed everything that was dear to him – whether it be fishing, hunting, golfing or travelling with his beautiful wife; his joie de vivre was always present.
In addition to his seemingly endless knowledge and expertise about any and all matters, a self-proclaimed authority on all topics, “I might be wrong, but I doubt it” he was an expert wine and salami maker. He truly was our “King” and we are all so grateful for having had him in our lives. He will be deeply missed.
In keeping with Gerry’s wishes, a celebration of a well lived and enjoyed life, will take place on Saturday, Feb., 24 from 1-4 p.m. at Gino’s Fired Up Kitchen & Bar located at 1076 Great Northern Rd, Sault Ste. Marie, ON P6B 0B6.
We are very grateful to Mom’s sisters, Jackie and Maryann and brother-in-law Ritch, for their support to our mother during this very difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. https://www.heartandstroke.ca/donations?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIr8DL77_vgwMV1FtHAR1OEAAsEAAYASAAEgKPs_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
