Peacefully at Extendicare Maple view, with family by his side on Monday, December 25, 2023.

Born in 1951, in Ottawa, to the late Jim and Marie (nee O’Brien) Murphy. He was the youngest brother to the late Jim (late Shirley), Judi Rouleau (Gilles), and the late John (Gayle). He was born close to St. Patrick’s Day and was the apple of his parent’s eye, with his red hair, inherited from his grandmother Violet (nee McCurrie) Murphy. He was a great sports fan and entertainer to his nieces Karen and Kelly and nephews Michael and Steven. His great nieces and nephews enjoyed his stories, antics, and great sense of humor.

Michael was a bachelor and lived his life on his own terms.

Thanks to his great friends Alain and Dave.

Special thanks to all the caregivers on Lake Superior Maple View, Christina, Katrina, Kim, Carrie, Terri, Mathew, Joshua, Lisa and the little one Murph called Trouble. You took care of Murph like your own. We will never forget the compassion and kindness you showed him everyday. We are so grateful. Also, thank you so very much to Dr. Spadafora and Dr. Sarah White.

As per Michael’s wishes, there is no visitation. Cremation has taken place.  Burial will be in the spring at Holy Sepulchre.

If you wish to make a donation, please consider our Sault Area Hospital Foundation Cancer Care Fund. Payable by cheque or online.
