September 3, 1962 – September 9, 2020
Suddenly, but quietly and peacefully Sylvia passed away with loved ones near her at the Algoma Manor. Sylvia lived a happy and productive life despite her physical handicaps. She leaves behind a legacy of love and many friends. Much loved daughter of Cameron and Gwen (nee Christilaw) Mosher. Beloved sister of Paul (Cyndy), Emily (Larry Allcorn), Kathleen Labbe (Claude) and Keith (Jan). Sylvia was interested in the lives of her nieces and nephews and will be fondly remembered by them all. She will be missed by her Uncle Frank and Aunt Mary Christilaw in Australia and her many cousins here and around the world.
Sylvia pursued her goal of education at the Orthopedic Unit at William Merrifield and attended both Lake Superior State College and Algoma University taking English Literature. She wrote a weekly column for the Sault Star advocating for the handicapped. She was also a member of numerous committees and was an instrumental force for accessibility rights for the handicapped. She lived independently in assisted living as long as she was able. From there Sylvia moved to Algoma Manor where she received excellent care. She led a full and rich life and was an inspiration to many. She is now enjoying life with her heavenly father and her loved ones who have gone on before.
The family wishes to thank Sylvia’s doctors, nurses, PSW’s, therapists, friends and the many others who have enriched her life.
Donations to Algoma Manor or NSHN-Thessalon Site are greatly appreciated by the family.
A celebration of Sylvia’s life will be held at a later date. A private service has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Beggs Funeral Home.
