Passed away at the Sault Area Hospital on Sunday, June 23, 2024 in her 80th year with family by her side.
Cherished wife of the late Gary for 54 years. Loving mother of Jill Morton (Jim) and Lynn Morton (Mark). Proud and loving Nannie of Jake (Ariel) and Breanna (Taylor). Great Nannie of Hayden. Predeceased by her parents Frances and Hazen Smith. Beloved sister of Donald (Joan), Gary (late Sharon) and Nancy Wallace of New Brunswick. Daughter-in-law of the late Olive and the late William Morton. Sister-in-law of the late Colleen Piccolo (late Mario), the late Gail Davidson (late Max). Joan will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mom was a loving and caring woman who devoted her life to her family, especially her two grandchildren. Christmases and Birthdays were always held at mum's house. She was a great cook and a master of birthday cakes. Everyone always got a special home-made cake. Mom, we will always cherish the special memories you have created for us. Mom was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick, where she loved travelling back to as often as she could to visit family and friends. Mom always said that she knew when she was home when she could smell the salt air. She is now reunited with her loving husband Gary.
As per her wishes, there will be no formal funeral services.
