With great sadness, we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Gerald “Red” Morrison on June 2, 2024, days before what would have been his 77th birthday. He was born in Toronto on June 11th, 1947, and spent most of his life there before retiring to Searchmont.

He was the loving husband of Evelyn “Chevy” (nee Sedor), father of Carolyn (Betty) McBride and Glenn (Susy). Grandfather of Shandon and Braydon McBride.

He is predeceased by his parents James and Inez (nee Tooney) Morrison, his sister, Patricia, and his canine buddy, Harley.

Red touched many people’s lives as a cab driver in Toronto before moving to Searchmont in 1989. He was proud of his time with the Searchmont Volunteer First Responders in those early years in a new community.

He enjoyed a good rainstorm, watching the hummingbirds, Timmies coffee, and his collection of bears. He could often be found people-watching outside Tim Hortons, or down at the St. Mary’s River watching the big ships go through the locks.

Following Red’s wishes, no funeral will be held, but a celebration of life will be organized at a future date.

Gerald’s family thanks the staff of the Sault Area Hospital for their care.

May your coffee always be hot, Dad.

Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home, 215 St. James Street, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, P6A1P7, 705-759-8456.
