Bernard Edward Mertes passed away peacefully at the General Hospital on Wednesday, April 17, 2002 in his 76th year. Loving husband and best friend of Joyce Elizabeth (nee Hadden). Beloved father of Edward Arthur (Marian) of Kitchener, Ontario and Bernard Paul (Linda) of Beaconsfield, Quebec. Cherished grandpa of Michael, David, William and Liisa Mertes. Dear brother of Elaine Gall, John (Pat), Ann Mertes, Peggy Wansbrough and the late Lorraine Owens and William Mertes. Dear brother-in-law of Aileen Hadden and Elsie Mole. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home on Friday, April 19 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 11:00 a.m. from Central United Church with Rev. Brewster Wilcox and Mrs. Joy McPhee officiating. Spring interment at Richards Landing Cemetery.
