Our hearts were broken on Valentine’s Day as we sadly said goodbye to our cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend at Victoria Hospital on Friday February 14, 2025 at the age of 96.

Antonio was the loving husband of Emilia for 59 years and adored father to Nick (late Carmela). Proud grandfather of Anthony and Emily who brought so much joy to his life. Predeceased by his parents Nicola and Costanza Salomone, brother Valentino (Giovina), sister Filomena Lannutti (Antonio) and brother Carmine all from Italy. Son-in-law of the late Francesca and Ferrante Coccimiglio. Brother-in-law of the late Angela Iacucci (Emilio), Maria Florio (Carmine), Saveria Adamo (Antonio), and Lucia Guzzo (late Fortunato). Loving uncle to many many nieces and nephews in Italy, London and Sault Ste. Marie.

Tony arrived in Canada from Italy on May 16, 1957 with a suitcase of clothes, a few dollars in his pocket and the promise of a better life. Through hard work and perseverance, Tony delivered on the dream. A few years later he met the love of his life, Emilia. Together they had their only son and built a small but tight knit family. Tony embarked on a 34 year career at Algoma Central Railway where he worked as a diesel mechanic. His smile and laughter was contagious with his co-workers, family and friends. In Tony’s spare time he loved to spend hours in his beloved garden and tell stories over a glass of wine with his family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Dearness Home (4th Floor East Willow Way) who took great care of Tony over the last 15 months. A special thank you to his caretaker Sarah for her many years of compassionate care. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude for all of the kind messages and words received from countless family and friends. Donations to Ovarian Cancer Canada in memory of Tony would be appreciated. We were blessed to have Tony in our lives for 96 years and will remember him forever in our hearts.
