It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rina, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt who departed this world on Sunday, Jan. 28. Rina was born on April 5, 1929 in Tavernelle, Italy and was a woman of unwavering passion, determination, and a zest for life that touched the hearts of all who knew her.

She was the wife of the late Olvido Mei (2002), loving mother to Angelo, Rose Marie and William (Lori). Rina was the proud nonna to Micheal(Stephanie), Angela (Kevin), Julian, Luke (Catie), Cassandra, Allison, and Natalie. She was also the bisnonna to Austin, Rileigh, Lauren, Kendal, and Carter. She is treasured by her niece Nives (Orazio) and nephew Luca.

Rina was predeceased by her beloved mother Palma, her father Fiore, sister Bruna, and brother-in-law Giuseppe. Her love for clothing design and fashion was a passion that she followed all her entire life. A true craftsman at heart, she reveled in the challenge of creating and designing wedding dresses. Her skillful hands brought many of these creations to life. Friends and family often sought her expertise, knowing she could bring a touch of magic to anything that needed repair.

Rina found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in the quiet beauty of nature. She grew up on a farm in Italy and in her later years, her favourite pastime was planting and growing in her large garden that brought her a sense of peace and a connection with the land. Her departure leaves a gigantic void in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, who will remember not only her skills and passions but for her warmth and kindness she showered upon each of them. Her legacy will live on in the stories shared and the memories etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.
